In early 2014, Solomon Energy approached a not-for-profit community hospital in upstate New York to explore the possibility of installing a remote net metered solar facility to help the hospital lower its operating costs.
rnWith electricity bills that exceeded $1 million per year, the hospital had plenty of room to improve its energy efficiency and take advantage of lower-cost solar electricity.
rnUnderstanding the hospital lacked sufficient roof space to construct a large solar array, Solomon Energy worked with solar developers to acquire large pieces of property for an off-site installation under New York’s Remote Net Metering program.
rnStrong solar incentives for non-residential solar projects in upstate New York, helped Solomon negotiate a fixed PPA rate 25% below the offset credit rate the utility will pay to the hospital for its solar production.
